The Sassandras Story
“I have always loved art. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to launch my own business with art at its core. Born to an Ivorian father and a French mother, I grew up between Abidjan (Ivory Coast) and Paris (France), which gave me the global foundation to allow me love of art to truly flourish. I understood that art is a powerful tool for universal communication, transmitting emotion and sharing. .
I launched SASSANDRAS, jewellery and fashion accessories in 2017. My love for jewellery stemmed from one of my aunts in Ivory Coast, a beautiful Akan woman who wore gorgeous gold jewellery (a tradition amongst the Akan People). It was this rich depth of tradition and symbolism which inspired me to launch SASSANDRAS. The brand’s handcrafted pieces are enhanced by Baoule gold weight beads. Each piece of SASSANDRAS jewellery is a reflection of my Akan heritage, grace and modernity. .
The SASSANDRAS woman is a modern, delicate woman, who has her own style. .
The brand draws its name from the the coastal town Sassandra in the south of Ivory Coast, a wild, beautiful place to dream. I aim to expand the range of fashion accessories within the collection and will continue to maintain a grassroots relationship with the people of Akan.”
